Job Description
The Global Category Manager is overall responsible for all activities in a category or subcategory, in regards to procurement projects and activities. This position specifically covers the category R&D. The Global Category Manager is expected to master in a professional way the procurement aspects of the specific category and/or subcategory: market dynamics, supplier performance situations, risks, projects status, total spend, contractual setup, etc.

The Global Category Manager needs to be proactive in finding improvement opportunities and pursue them.

The Global Category Manager is expected to deal with suppliers and internal senior stakeholders, have a high level of professionalism, excellent communication skills and high quality of deliverables.

Role and Responsibilities
The Global Category Manager should analyse data for category strategy, keep updated on supply markets within the category, develop category strategies, implement and execute the approved strategy.

The Global Category Manager is expected to:

• Conduct review meetings with key stakeholders and suppliers
• Maintain and manage allocated category and subcategories and make sure that suppliers are categorized correctly
• Analyse data about allocated suppliers with the purpose of segmentation, consolidation and optimization
• Establish plans to support KPI's
• Spot concrete opportunities and create concrete plans and input to the Procurement pipeline (tenders, new suppliers within responsibility)
• Negotiate and ensure best possible terms and conditions and make sure that all the suppliers are covered by active contracts, in cooperation with Legal
• Perform tenders/RFX processes
• Responsible for selecting suppliers for SAP catalogues for creating preferred supplier lists
• Establish in depth knowledge of supply market and business need of the category/subcategory in charge
• Reserved right to attend business critical audits
• Responsible for all commercial aspect of the relationship with suppliers (price, payment terms, terms and conditions, protection to the TCO, etc.)
• Approve and ensure implementation of prices and T&C's
• Lead Procurement Projects and Sourcing
• Maintain Supplier Relationship Management towards strategic suppliers (governance, personal meetings, supplier evaluation across LEO, facilitate and resolve disputes)
• Ensure full transparency in supplier selection and contracting
• Be a trusted advisor for the key stakeholders in all aspects of procurement
• Ensure that day to day decisions are taken according to LEO strategy

Requirements

Professional competencies :
• A Bachelor or Master's Degree in engineering, supply chain management, finance, or similar
• 2-3 years of working experience from the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry or equivalent experience and preferably Jr. Category Manager or Category Manager experience
• Project and Program Management experience with procurement related projects
• Strong knowledge of suppliers' contractual issues including legal phrases
• Efficient and strong drive to develop and implement procurement set-up with category specific stakeholders
• Solid and proven skills within negotiation, Contract Management, Stakeholder Management and Supplier Management
• Solid toolbox within Category Management
• Solid business English (spoken and written)
