Job Description
The Head of Protein Technology in Research and Early Development will be responsible for managing activities and operational tasks for a team with 7-10 direct reports.

Strong scientific involvement regarding protein biophysical methods, protein structure, design, expression and purification is a must to enable hit identification and validation., The position holds a clear strategic impact on the overall performance in Research and Early Development, including project deliverables, allocation of resources and day-to-day prioritization.

Role and Responsibilities
The Head of Protein Technology in Research and Early Development will be responsible for people-management and project deliverables in a matrix-organisational setting, including:

• People management, people development, personal goals
• Contribute to creating a high-performance workforce by developing self and others
• Overview and allocation of resources to ensure timely delivery of data to initiatives and projects
• Ensuring optimal alignment with key stakeholders for the team
• Ensure high scientific standards,
• Building and nurturing relationship to internal and external protein and assay stakeholders.
• Providing Protein Technology expertise, experimental support and protein coordination to projects within Research and Early Development

Requirements
Professional competencies :
• PhD (or equivalent) in protein biophysics, biochemistry, or a related field
• At least 5 years of pharma/biotech experience and 2+ years of experience as project or team lead
• Deep knowledge within protein biophysical methods, protein structure, design, expression and purification
• Broad experience in protein production within bacterial, insect and mammalian expression systems, and strong insight into options and potential solutions for expression of difficult proteins is considered an advantage, but is not a requirement.
• Applying knowledge of business and the marketplace to advance the organization's goals
