If you have a solid background working with biobanking in an R&D organization for a pharmaceutical company and you have experience in acquiring human tissue samples for Research purposes, you now have the great opportunity to become LEO Pharma's new Biobank & Sample acquisition manager. You will join a team of experienced and highly skilled scientists, and work in close collaboration with several functions across Research and Development to bring our biobanking and sample acquisition to a new level - enabling key elements in the execution of our ambitious 2030 strategy.

Your role
You will join an international market leader within dermatology with focus on inflammatory skin diseases. We have a strong commitment to deep molecular disease understanding and implementing tools & processes that increase the scientific value generated using various bio samples.

The Biobank & Sample Acquisition manager will be responsible for end-to-end coordination of human biobanking and sample acquisition across LEO Pharma, mainly supporting Research and Medicinal Sciences, working closely with Global Clinical Operations, Legal, QA, and 'R&D Data & Analytics'.

This role has been identified as a key contributor to the execution of our strategy by further strengthening our deep molecular disease understanding. This is a crucial role for LEO Pharma, to enable effective execution in this field and help us strengthening our position as leader in medical dermatology. As you will be working across many areas in Research and Development, this is a true cross functional role, where you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of fantastic colleagues.

Your will be responsible for:
  • Re-designing and driving biobanking and bio sample acquisition for LEO Pharma R&D in close collaboration with the Head of Bioinformatics, Head of Skin Research, Head of Clinical Pharmacology, and 'R&D Data & Analytics'
  • Project lead for external human bio sampling, including vendor selection and quality assurance
  • Driving the evaluation of project applications to the internal biobank together with the Governance board
  • Project lead on the Sample catalogue (web-interface to biobank content)
  • Supporting the maintenance of state-of-the-art biobanking and sample acquisition, including informed consents, incidental findings, sampling strategies, Omics technologies, keeping the organization up to date regarding ethical requirements
  • Driving LEO Pharma human bio sample ethical commitment and policies

This means that you will be accountable for setting up, improving & maintaining new and existing internal processes related to biobanking, and for identifying, re-designing/optimizing & implementing processes and procedures.
A vital part of the job is also to keep yourself updated with new regulations and developments in the field. You can look forward to joining LEO in one of the most exciting times in our history.

Your competencies
To succeed in this role, you must hold an advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in life sciences or equivalent, with experience in biobank management, human bio sampling, sample acquisition and legal & ethical aspects of handling human bio samples.

Furthermore, you should have solid understanding of research & development processes and project experience in the pharmaceutical industry, especially clinical trials and/or target identification.
  • You should be able to communicate effectively to a wide range of staff members and colleagues with different backgrounds.
  • You are known as go to person and someone who can function effectively in a highly matrixed environment and actively and effectively participate in cross-functional project teams. As you will work closely together with multiple colleagues, you must thrive on creating results via constructive collaboration.
  • You are flexible, with a can-do attitude while being collaborative by building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.

About the Research Information & Alliances department
You will join a well-functioning team of several skilled scientist colleagues supporting research and development in external interphases and flow of scientific data & information. The department is part of the Research area, but in this role, you will have responsibilities across Research and Development.
